Information Sharing

Pursuant to our agreements with Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers ('ICANN'), we have to maintain a publicly accessible WHOIS database that includes the basic information about each domain name registered by us, including the names, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses of individuals designated as points of contact for any given domain name. The status of the applicable domain name registration fees is also publicly accessible. With the continuing privatization of the WHOIS system, and consistent with the rules and policies applicable, or to comply with any changes in law or regulation that binds us, we may take steps to restrict the accessibility and amount of personal information available in the WHOIS database.

When you are register a domain name through our system, we have to disclose the domain name and its associated Internet Protocol ("IP") numbers to the related registry in order to make your domain name a functioning address on the Internet. Certain registries are also requiring that we disclose to them the names, postal addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail addresses of the points of contacts for the domain names. Each registry discloses certain portions (and in some cases it may be all) of the information we provide to them to public. For example, each registry discloses each registered domain name and its associated IP numbers to the respective server administrators so that the domain name can function as an address on the Internet.

Consistent with the current rules and policies of the international domain name system, such registries may also disclose these TLD zone files to other parties, provided that those parties agree, among other things, not to use these TLD zone files for improper purposes such as the transmission of unsolicited commercial e-mail. Similarly, each registry may also maintain a publicly accessible database that includes basic information about each domain name registered with that registry, including the names, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail addresses of the points of contacts for the domain names.

We may share certain information about you with those of our vendors who are responsible for performing some services that is necessary for our services to run accurately. Although we may share sensitive financial information (e.g. domain name payment status), security information (e.g., account passwords) and personal communications (e.g., personal e-mail messages) with such vendors where necessary, we will not give such information with other third parties, except in response to formal requests (e.g. court order) directly relating to a domain name registration or other services we provide, or when directed by you or your agent.

Please note, however, that consistent with the current rules and policies of the international domain name system, information about you must remain available in the publicly accessible WHOIS database.
